Eaglemark Savings Bank donates $10,000 to CASA of Carson City

CARSON CITY, Nev. — Eaglemark Savings Bank, a subsidiary of Harley-Davidson Financial Services, presented a check in the amount of $10,000 to CASA of Carson City through its Community Reinvestment Act program.
CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, provides quality court-appointed advocacy for abused and neglected children in child welfare cases, through a network of community volunteers who work with children to ensure their voices are heard during court proceedings.
“Eaglemark is happy to continue its support of CASA of Carson City’s mission of providing and promoting court-appointed volunteer advocacy so that every abused and neglected child can be safe, establish permanence and have the opportunity to thrive,” Elizabeth Baker, Eaglemark Savings Bank CRA Officer, said.
Eaglemark Savings Bank has donated funds through its Community Reinvestment Act program to CASA of Carson City every year since 2009.
Melanie McCormick, guardian ad litem and executive director of CASA of Carson City said one of the goals of CASA is to ensure that children who come into the child welfare system have their childhood preserved.
“It's important to recognize that while a child is in foster care, they still need access to new clothes, school supplies, toys, and sporting activities,” she said. “The ongoing support of community partners like Eaglemark enables CASA to purchase bikes for transportation, over-flowing backpacks with notebooks, colored pens, crayons, pencil holders and more.”
With summer approaching, McCormick said CASA can help pay for youth in the foster care system to play football, soccer and other pastimes to provide for regular, normal childhood activities. Providing these activities helps to remove the stigma surrounding foster care and helps the children feel cared for and provided for.
“Our community partners recognize that children and families need support and so we are ever grateful for Eaglemark Savings Bank and all that they do for our families," McCormick said.
