Dayton, Nevada– The public is warmly invited to join dietitian Kim Mason and chef Cynthia Kroon for a healthy cooking demonstration, followed by dinner, on Monday November 20, 2017 at 5:30pm at the Dayton Valley Community Center at 170 Pike Street. The class is completely free, no need to register, and everyone is welcome.

Organized by Junior Ramirez, a member of Carson Futbol Club, soccer players from around the region gathered Saturday at Carson High School for a tournament to benefit students injured in the Nov. 9 vehicle crash on Kings Canyon Road. It was the second tournament fundraiser.

UPDATE 2:03PM: A mechanical issue is likely to blame for a presence of light smoke inside a Carson Tahoe Hospital care facility on North Minnesota Street, according to Carson City Fire Department Battalion Chief Dan Shirey. All those evacuated are now allowed back into the facility.

Carson City Fire Department was called Sunday afternoon to a report of smoke coming out of one of the Carson Tahoe care facilities on North Minnesota Street.

The Capital City Arts Initiative announces its exhibition, "Inside and Outside the Lines", with artwork by artists Jonathan Farber and Susan Kotler at the city’s Sierra Room located in the Carson City Community Center, 851 E William Street, Carson City.

The Capital Community Band, under the direction of Richard Doede, will tie a big red bow around 2017 by presenting a Patriotic and Holiday concert on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017. The free concert will be presented in the Bob Boldrick Theatre in the Carson Community Center.

Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District christened Marine 24 earlier this month, giving Lake Tahoe its first year-round firefighting boat. At a cost of nearly $500,000, the vessel is able to fight fires from on board as well as piping water from the lake into water tenders.

The third annual Carson High School vs. Douglas High School Charity Basketball Game lit up CHS Wednesday, Nov. 15 and, as rivalry was put aside, it turned out to be the most successful basketball game fundraiser in CHS history with $10,000 raised for the seven students injured in the Nov. 9 vehicle accident on Kings Canyon Road.
