Celebrity Waiters FISH Fundraiser held Saturday, tours given of new Carson City dormitory site
On Saturday, the annual Celebrity Waiter FISH Fundraiser was held, this time on site or the new FISH Student Housing Revitalization Project site.
According to FISH, “The project will provide housing, and wrap-around services, as needed, for underemployed individuals earning college-level technical certifications and training to qualify for higher-paying jobs, helping to grow our regional economy. After students are established in their new careers, they will transition to other housing.”
The site consists of two three-story buildings, two of which are for dorms, and the third which faces Carson St. will become a commercial building.
Tours were given of the dormitories which are slated to be finished by September/October. There were several building delays due to this year’s winter, according to Assistant Project Manager Cavan Van Geen with Plenium Builders, but with the warming weather the rest of the builds should go up quickly.
Units consist of one to two bedrooms which include a private patio or balcony, bathroom, kitchen, in-unit washer and dryers, and much more.
Celebrity waiters such as Sheriff Ken Furlong, Mayor Lori Bagwell, FISH Director Jim Peckham and many more served catering provided by Bella Vita Bistro, and participants were able to bid in a silent auction as well as participate in a raffle.
