Carson City woman beaten, hit in head with rock; man faces felony charges

A Carson City man faces felony and misdemeanor charges after he allegedly beat his girlfriend, locked her in a room, and then hit her in the head with a rock.
Nyle Silva, 23, is being held on felony robbery and false imprisonment charges as well as gross misdemeanor interference with emergency communication and domestic battery. His bail has been set at $35,632.
Officers were dispatched at around 2:45 a.m. Friday to the 700 block of Silver Oak Drive regarding a domestic battery call. The injured victim told officers that she and Silva, who is the father of her child, got into an argument that turned violent. The victim told officers Silva pushed her against a wall, and, when she tried to leave, told her she could not, in effect holding her a prisoner.
The suspect continued to push the victim around, while the victim's friends, who were inside the apartment, attempted to stop him. The victim attempted to call 911 for help but was stopped by Silva, who grabbed the phone from her hand, slapped her around, placed a hand around her neck and then shoved her into a sliding glass door, according to the arrest report.
Silva was repeatedly told to stop by friends inside the apartment. As one of the victim's friend attempted to call 911 for help, Silva reportedly took the phone from them and put it in his pocket. The friends left the apartment and the victim went to a neighbor's to call 911.
The victim's friend, who identified himself as "Easy" was interviewed by deputies. When they asked him if he witnessed the crime, he told them: "I'm a real convict. If I saw anything I ain't telling you" and then left the apartment.
Officers took statements from the victim, and a female friend who was the other witness. The victim declined medical treatment. The officer took photos of the woman's injuries, and gave her a domestic violence information card.
The officer left the apartment, and parked around the corner in an attempt to catch Silva returning. As he watched the apartment from across the way, he observed the blinds on the glass door being thrashed around. Several deputies responded, with one of the witnesses screaming "help, he's back in the apartment."
The deputies entered the apartment, and observed fresh injuries to the victim's face and forehead. The woman told officers Nyle entered the apartment from a bedroom, walked into the victim's room and began hitting her, according to the arrest report. The man then went into their son's room, where the victim tried to stop him. She told deputies Silva he picked up a rock and smashed her in the head with it.
The woman completed a second written statement by officers, and she was advised to go the hospital and contact domestic violence advocates. The woman declined, telling officers she didn't want to leave the apartment. Officers began their second search for Silva. Several hours later, at around 11:53 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to 20 College Parkway in an attempt to locate Silva inside an apartment.
The officer was let inside the home by a female occupant and Silva was found inside a bedroom. He was arrested and taken to jail.
