Thunderstorms developing around Carson City region
Thunderstorms have developed Thursday afternoon around the Carson City and Carson Valley regions, according to the National Weather Service, with one fire reported to have started near Woodfords in Alpine County.
Rain, lightning, thunder and hail have been reported throughout the Carson Valley. Lightning may be responsible for a wildland fire burning in Alpine County, California near Woodfords, according to KRNV.
The thunderstorms are moving along and east of Highway 395. Shortly before 5 p.m. Doppler radar indicated showers and thunderstorms developing along the Highway 395 into Carson City corridor moving north from the south at 25 mph.
These thunderstorms will continue to spread into northeast California into western Nevada this evening, the weather service states.
Half inch hail and wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph will be possible with these storms. Lightning and gusty winds are likely with these storms. Watch for areas of blowing dust and reduced visibility, the weather service advises.
