Flood Watch goes up for Carson Valley as spring warming, runoff continues
Rising temperatures and rapid spring runoff has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Flood Watch for the Carson Valley near the West Fork of the Carson River from Thursday evening through late Saturday night.
The river forecast for the West Fork of the Carson River near Woodfords is expected to near flood stage Thursday and Friday nights, with flooding possible downstream in the Carson Valley Thursday night and Friday morning and again Friday night and Saturday, according to the weather service.
Temperatures Wednesday were in the upper 70s. For Thursday, temperatures will be near 80, Friday will be in the upper 70s and are expected to be in the mid 70s for the weekend with a cooling off period beginning next week, according to the weather service.
Potential flooding impacts are expected to remain in agricultural areas of the Carson Valley, with flooding possible onto or over rural east to west oriented roads crossing the valley.
