Nevada gains jobs in March; Carson City adds 300 jobs since February
According to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s March 2023 economic report, Nevada gained 2,600 jobs over the month. The number of jobs in the state is up 73,000 since March 2022, an annual increase of 5.0 percent.
The total employment level in the state is 1,541,200. The state’s unemployment rate in March is 5.5 percent, unchanged from 5.5 percent in February and up 0.2 percentage points when compared to March 2022.
Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) Employment (Seasonally Adjusted):
— Carson City employment had an increase of 300 jobs (0.9 percent) since February, an increase of 1,600 jobs (5.3%) since March 2022.
— Reno employment had a decrease of 300 jobs (-0.1 percent) since February, an increase of 10,800 jobs (4.2 percent) since March 2022.
— Las Vegas employment increased by 4,100 jobs (0.4 percent) since February, an increase of 58,100 jobs (5.5 percent) since March 2022.
“This month's report continues to reflect relatively rapid gains in employment and stable unemployment. Healthcare and leisure industries saw the largest gains, while construction saw the largest decline over the month,” said David Schmidt, Nevada's chief economist.
