‘Pie’d for Poverty’ fundraiser to allow donors to huck a pie in the face of Carson City leaders for charity

A “Pie’d for Poverty” fundraiser is to be held Friday, April 30 at the Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery where residents can pie local Carson City leaders for the sake of raising funds for Friends in Service Helping, also known as FISH.
The event was concocted by Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery owner Jeff Pace, who saw a need for increased funding and donations for those who became food insecure during the last year following the pandemic.
“This is important because during the last 12 months, the need for food and assistance has increased greatly in our community, like many others in our country,” said Pace.
Additionally, this is the first big fundraiser for FISH, since 2019, according to Pace, so this fundraiser is even more important now.
This is the first event of its kind, where attendees will have the chance to huck a pie in the face of local leaders and business persons such as Sheriff Ken Furlong, Mayor Lori Bagwell, Supervisor Lisa Schuette, Jeff Pace, and others.
However, in order to pie the mayor or sheriff, a $5,000 donation and reservation will be required.
This is the first event of its kind, but if the community responds and enjoys it, more pie events could be seen in the future.
Donations for a pie throw will be between $20 and $40. All proceeds go directly to FISH.
Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery is located at 405 N. Nevada Street. The fundraiser, which is sponsored by Carson City's Sign Pro, will take place on Friday, April 30 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
