Sprouts grocery, Planet Fitness coming to Carson City? Both apply for business permits
Health foodies rejoice: The popular health food grocery chain Sprouts Farmers Market has applied for a business permit for a new proposed business complex to be built between Walmart and Home Depot on Market Street in Carson City.
Sprouts opened their first store in 2002 and according to their corporate page, the ideology behind the grocery chain is creating a farmers market-like shopping experience in the convenience of a store, providing organic meat, dairy and produce for affordable prices.
There are currently three locations in Reno operating at this time, but this will be the first for Carson City and the surrounding rural region.
In addition, a separate application has been received for the same prospective multi-tenant building for a Planet Fitness.
Planet Fitness is a chain of fitness centers that operates around 2,400 clubs that caters to “novice and casual gym users as a Judgement Free Zone,” according to their corporate information.
There are a number of Planet Fitness locations in Reno and Sparks, but this would be the first location in Carson City.
At this time, there is no time frame for when construction would begin, according to Carson City Community Development Director Hope Sullivan, but an application for a building permit is currently in review.
