Mobile dental care to make stops at Carson City schools
Finding affordable dental care for children can be a challenge. To help with this, the Nevada Health Centers Mobile Dental Services program will be visiting Carson City next week with stops at Empire Elementary and Carson High.
Having visited Carson City for several years as the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, the same vehicle now has a new look. However, what hasn't changed is the dentist, Dr. Alexandrea Wabara, and her staff who are available to provide dental services to children and young adults up to 21 years of age with or without dental insurance coverage.
The mobile center will be at the following Carson City locations:
Empire Elementary, 1260 Monte Rosa Dr.
— Monday, April 8, 1 to 5 p.m.
— Tuesday, April 9, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
— Friday, April 12, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Carson High School, 1111 N. Saliman Rd.
— Wednesday, April 10, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
— Thursday, April 11, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Call 80-787-2568 to schedule an appointment. Private insurance, Medicaid, Nevada Check Up are accepted. Children without dental insurance may be supported through generous community grants.
Nevada Health Centers Mobile Dental Services is a mobile office fully staffed with dentists and assistants, and offers full dental services to children of all ages, including: exams, x-rays, extractions, fillings, cleanings, sealants, restorative services and oral health education.
The need for dental care providers that accept Medicaid patients is great in Carson City, the health center says. It is in the middle of a capital campaign to raise funds to expand and include dental services at our Sierra Nevada Health location at 3325 Research Way. Interested in donating? Until Sierra Nevada Health is able to expand the brick and mortar facility, its mobile vehicles will continue to visit Carson City and provide dental care, health officials said. The mobile unit is operated in partnership between Nevada Health Centers and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Las Vegas.
For many years, the RMCM visited Carson City. Nevada Health Centers has recently had the good fortune to expand its mobile fleet to include five different vehicles providing medical and dental care statewide. The RMCM will focus on southern Nevada while the Mobile Dental Services vehicle will be based in Elko and focus on northern Nevada. Go here for information on services available.
