Student speech contest featured at the next Rotary Club of Carson City meeting
The Rotary Club of Carson City will hold its annual Student Speech Contest during the club’s weekly meeting on Tuesday, March 30, at 12:30 p.m. This year the contest will be held virtually to comply with current COVID directives. Several local high school aged students are competing. Guests are invited to attend the online event.
This year’s topic is “Turning challenges into opportunities as we create transformative change”. “Part of the mission of Rotary is to promote the youth in our area and this is an excellent opportunity to showcase their speaking and critical thinking skills”, said Rotarian Michael Pelham. “It's also a great opportunity for the students to win some money.” Winners get cash prizes and advance to regional competitions.
The Rotary Club of Carson City hosts multiple student contests each year as a way to promote and highlight the talented young people in the community.
