John Krupp was booked into custody at 3:43 a.m. on the felony charge and a misdemeanor charge of not having a valid driver’s license. — Two people were arrested early Thursday on felony drug charges, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said. Joshua Hayes, 28, and Courtney Kelley, 29, both of Carson City, were arrested at 1:10 a.m. in the 3800 block of Highway 50 East on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Hayes also faces a misdemeanor violation of a suspended sentence charge.

According to the arrest report, a deputy on patrol in the area of Highway 50 East and College Parkway observed a white Ford U-Haul pull in front of the patrol vehicle causing the officer to brake heavily to avoid collision. The officer activated his overhead lights and initiated a traffic stop because the driver failed to yield from a stop sign.

The officer checked both occupants for warrants. Dispatch provided information that Hayes was on Alternative Sentencing for prior possession of controlled substance arrests, the report states. Hayes consented to a search of the vehicle, in which marijuana pipes and hypodermic needles that contained heroin were found. The hypodermic devices were found directly behind the passenger seat and were uncapped, exposing the needle portion, the report states. The two were arrested. Bail for Hayes, $6,774 and bail for Kelley, $3,774.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the area for a fight involving four subjects. Upon arrival officers met with the suspect who was in front of a garage at an apartment. He didn’t have a shirt on and the officer observed several scratches on his chest.

The officer asked the man what happened. He said he was arguing with his roommate about the bills not getting paid. The officer asked if he got into a fight with the roommate. He said the two were just wrestling around. The officer asked the suspect if anyone else was involved. The man said there wasn’t. The officer asked how long he lived with his roommate and he replied since November.

The roommate then walked outside of the apartment, also not wearing a shirt and had some scratches on his upper body and arms. His left eye was red with some bruising. The officer asked the victim what happened. The victim replied he and his roommate were arguing about bills. The victim also said the two were just wrestling around. The officer asked if that is how he got the injuries. The man said he wasn’t sure. He was asked who touched who first and the man said the suspect did.
