Carson City arrests: Domestic battery investigation leads to drugs, firearm offenses

A domestic battery investigation led to the arrest of two Friday for felony drug possession and other offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

Randy Bryon Raymond, 45, of Carson City was booked for suspicion of felony possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and possession of a controlled substance for sales. He was also booked for two counts gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous weapon (brass knuckles and a black jack), setting a spring gun or other deadly weapon and misdemeanor domestic battery.

Also arrested was Lindsay Marie Carpenter, 33, for suspicion of possession of 14-28 grams of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

During the investigation into domestic battery, deputies observed in plain view drug paraphernalia along with a handgun, ammunition and several gun cases. Deputies were also informed by dispatch that Raymond was a convicted felon known to carry a firearm, according to the booking report.

Raymond denied consent to search and a search warrant of the residence was applied for and granted to search for drugs, paraphernalia and firearms, the booking report states. Drugs, paraphernalia and firearms were recovered in the search as was as brass knuckles, black jack and spring gun, the report states.

A total of seven firearms were booked into evidence, along with several other parts that could be utilized to manufacture an eighth firearm, the report states. Also found was 31.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 11.2 grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms and 23.7 grams of unknown pills.

Bail for Raymond: Bail: $20,000. Bail for Carpenter: $5,000.

In other arrests:

— A 42-year-old man, Michael Menke, was arrested Sunday for domestic battery, obstructing a peace officer, being an ex-felon failing to register and drug possession and paraphernalia. Bail: $3,000.

— A 47-year-old Carson City man was arrested for a misdemeanor department of alternative sentencing violation. He was intoxicated with a "no drinking" clause as part of his conditions. Bail: $3,000 cash.

— A 30-year-old woman was arrested early Sunday for suspected DUI, failure to maintain a lane and driving with a suspended license. According to the booking report, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on East Long after observing the driver unable to maintain a travel lane.

The deputy made contact with the driver and asked if she had been drinking. The woman replied she had. The officer could smell an odor of alcohol on her breath. She agreed to standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment on the tests. She refused to provide a preliminary breath test and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. At jail she provided two evidentiary breath tests of .170 and .166. Bail: $1,137.

— A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Sunday for suspicion of DUI. According to the booking report, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failure to maintain a lane at North Carson Street and College Parkway.

The deputy made contact with the driver and asked if he had been drinking. The driver said he had three beers 30 minutes prior. The deputy could smell an odor of alcohol on the man's breath. He agreed to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment on the tests. He consented to a preliminary breath test with a result of .112 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. At jail he provided evidentiary breath tests of .117 and .114. Bail: $1,137.

— A 28-year-old Carson City man, Jose Medina, was arrested Saturday for a felony and gross misdemeanor warrant issued Feb. 10, 2023 out of Carson City Township Court. Bail: $2,500.

Carson City Sheriff’s Office K9s take 1st in Narcotics Detection and finish 2nd team overall at the 3rd Annual Regional K9 Unit Challenge.
