2 Raley's stores closed at South Tahoe due to unstable roofs from snow; Safeway closed briefly
Raley's stores in Stateline and in South Lake Tahoe are closed due to roof structure problems caused by snow build up from the storms. The Safeway store in Round Hill in Douglas County, which was closed Monday due to structure concerns, was to reopen Tuesday morning for business, officials said.
Douglas County's Community Development office placed a red tag on the Safeway building Monday morning, saying the structure was unsafe for occupancy at that time. No other businesses at the Round Hill shopping center are closed. Safeway is free-standing with a separation from the rest of the center, according to Douglas County.
There are no other buildings on the Douglas County side of Lake Tahoe closed at this time.
Both Raley's stores in South Lake Tahoe are currently closed. The roof buckled and partially caved in over the Stateline store Saturday, and the Y store was closed Sunday for safety reasons by Raley's management.
