Douglas authorities warn of prowler with a beard lurking around Gardnerville area homes
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a prowler in two separate areas in Douglas County this week.
The first incident reported was on Monday, March 9, 2015, at approximately 2:44 am, Deputies were dispatched to 1400 block South Marion Russell Court for a male peering into a garage. The victim stated he woke up this morning and went out into his garage. He looked up toward the middle windows and saw the face of a man. When the suspect realized he had been seen he left the area in an unknown vehicle.
The victim described the man as having a groomed beard but, could not advise what he was wearing as he only saw his face.
The second incident was reported on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at about 7:45 pm in the 1300 block of Rancho Road for an unknown man standing at a bedroom window on the front of the house. During this incident the reporting party contacted the man who had knocked on a bedroom window. The suspect asked if a person was at the residence. The person he asked about did not live there. The suspect left in a full-sized, white Chevy four-door truck.
The reporting party stated after speaking with the suspect, the male did not appear to be agitated or intoxicated and was polite and it seemed to be a normal conversation, except for the male knocking on the window instead of the front door.
The suspect was described as a male being in his late 30's, wearing a baseball hat, about 5-foot, 11-inches, 200 pounds. The male had a full beard, wearing blue jeans and a zip up pull over, possibly tan.
The reporting party stated his boys found a filet knife in a plastic scabbard in the planter, near the front door and window were the male was. It is unknown if the suspect dropped the knife.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation to determine if the two incidents are related.
