Carson City sheriff's office log: Arrests for embezzlement, drug sales and domestic battery

A 36-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday in the area of North Roop Street and East William on a felony warrant alleging embezzlement, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, officers stopped Amie Marie Folster after clocking her on radar going 39 mph in a clearly posted 25 mph zone. Dispatch confirmed the March 4 warrant out of Carson City Justice Court and she was arrested at 9:33 a.m. Bail: $20,000.

In other arrests Tuesday: A 58-year-old Carson City, Darryl Dion Clark, man was arrested Tuesday, 5:20 p.m. in the 1400 block of North Carson Street on felony suspicion of failing to register as a sex offender.

— A 49-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday, 1:37 p.m. in the 600 block of Minnesota street on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery. According to the arrest report, officers spoke with the male victim who stated he and his girlfriend got into an argument, stating she was intoxicated and wanted to have sex with him. The victim said he told her he would not have sex with her and she allegedly punched him in the mouth numerous times, the arrest report states.

The victim stated he picked up her phone and attempted to call the police. The woman began punching him in the face again, the victim told police, and then she fell on a bike that was sitting in the kitchen and cut her left hand. The victim was able to exit the residence and called for help. Officers observed the victim had marks on his face and his lip was bleeding.

Officers made contact with the woman who was extremely intoxicated and unsteady on her feet. She would not provide a breath sample and denied she hit the victim. She stated her boyfriend pushed her into the bicycle in the kitchen and that was why she was bleeding. She was taken to the hospital for treatment for her injury then booked on a charge of domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.

— A 50-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 3:20 p.m. in the 4000 block of Pheasant Drive on a misdemeanor charge of contempt of court issued Jan. 7, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.

— A 28-year-old Carson City man, Jake Ruz, was arrested Wednesday, 3:52 a.m. in the 4300 block of North Carson Street on felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. According to the arrest report, officers responded to a convenience store in reference to a man attempting to sell Xanax.

Officers arrived and observed the subject matching the description in front of the store. The officer asked if he had any weapons or drugs on him. The man said he had his prescribed Xanax in its prescribed container and allowed the officer to look at the bottle, which had one pill and a half pill in it. The officer asked the man if he attempted to sell any of the Xanax. He denied he had tried to sell it.

Officers met with a reporting witness in the area of Hospitality Way who stated that at approximately 3:15 a.m. as he was leaving the convenience store, he was approached by a man matching Ruz’s description asking if he wanted to by any “Zannys” the arrest report states.

At around 3:50 a.m. the reporting witness drove by and positively identified Ruz as the man who attempted to sell him the Xanax. The reporting witness completed a statement and Ruz was taken into custody on suspicion of possession, controlled substance with intent to sell. Bail: $5,000.

— A 44-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, 12:45 a.m. in the area of Telegraph and Pratt streets on misdemeanor suspicion of DUI. According to the arrest report officers determined the man had been driving during an investigation of a vehicle accident. The man was asked to participate in a series of field sobriety tests in which he refused all tests. The officer read the man the “request for voluntary evidence” card and he refused to provide a breath sample for evidence testing. The man was arrested and a search warrant was issued by a judge allowing for blood samples. Bail: $1,137.

Those arrested and facing charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

On May 18, 2024, at around 12:50 a.m., Carson City Sheriff's deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Christopher Gorham. A drug-detection canine was used to conduct a sniff of the vehicle. Deputies searched the vehicle and located drug paraphernalia along with an explosive device.

An 1884 Carson City Morgan silver dollar donated by Northern Nevada Coin is being raffled by the Friends of the Nevada State Museum. The raffle will highlight the Tin Cup Roundup fundraiser planned for Saturday, September 21 (5 to 8 pm). Ricardo Serrano Perez was sentenced to 20 years in the Nevada Department of Corrections with minimum parole eligibility of 8 years. Perez was sentenced pursuant to a guilty plea agreement whereby the parties stipulated to the maximum sentence.

A 63-year-old housekeeper was arrested Thursday for 14 counts of credit card fraud and other offenses after allegedly stealing a credit card belonging to an 86-year-old patient who family members said was being treated for a stroke at a local care facility, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office detective.
