Carson City sheriff's deputies make drug, DUI arrests
A 21-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday for suspicion of DUI, hit and run of an unoccupied vehicle, obstructing a peace officer, and driving on a suspended driver’s license for failure to appear, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.
According to the arrest report, a deputy was dispatched to a bar on Telegraph Street in reference to a hit and run crash. A deputy arrived and located two unoccupied vehicles with damage. Located outside one of the vehicles was a wallet. Located inside the wallet was a license, which it turned out belonged to the driver of the suspect vehicle. Ice was located on the driver side floor board, as well as a cup on the driver’s side floor board and ice was outside the vehicle, the arrest report states.
A witness said he observed the suspect’s vehicle pull onto Plaza Street, a one way street, going in the wrong direction. He stated while the vehicle was backing into the parking space, it struck an unoccupied parked vehicle. The witness stated the suspect appeared to be on the phone, not paying attention when she struck the vehicle, the arrest report states.
The witness gave a description of the suspect and officers found her inside a bar. A deputy asked for identification. The woman said she didn’t have an ID. A deputy instructed the woman to step outside multiple times and she refused, the report states. After multiple orders she exited the bar and the witness identified her as the woman who he had seen hit the vehicle.
Deputies observed the woman had an odor of alcohol coming from her person, watery eyes and slurred speech. She denied ever driving or being involved in a hit and run crash and stated her boyfriend was driving the vehicle. The witness told deputies the woman was the only person in the vehicle, the arrest report states.
The woman was placed under arrest and read her Miranda rights and she said she wished to speak. She made multiple statements regarding her boyfriend driving the vehicle, and later stated her mother and sister were driving the vehicle, the arrest report states.
When asked to submit to field sobriety tests, she refused and became highly upset when being arrested, the report said. She was advised that her license could be revoked if she refused to provide an evidentiary test. A deputy obtained a partial preliminary breath test with a .235 result.
A judge was contacted and approved a search affidavit to allow for blood from a draw to be obtained. She was booked into Carson City jail without incident for the alleged charges. Bail: $2,378.
