A search and rescue operation is underway this afternoon in the Kings Canyon area. According to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong, the man told dispatch that he has been stuck up in the canyon with a vehicle for three days and says he may have frostbite.
A Search and Rescue team has been dispatched to find the man up the mountain. The staging area for the search and rescue is off of Highway 50 West.
The man has been communicating with dispatch via cell phone. He informed dispatch he has 61 percent power left on his cell phone. Search and Rescue is unclear of where the man is stuck, according to dispatch. The man's cell phone allows only outgoing calls, so information has been collected through dispatch to SAR.
