Carson City arrests: Man booked for felony domestic battery with strangulation
A 52-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of felony domestic battery by strangulation, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Jose Efrain Gomez-Orozco was taken into custody at 10:08 p.m. He was also booked for suspicion of misdemeanor violation of bail conditions.
According to the CCSO booking report, deputies were called to a Saddlehorn Drive residence at 9:30 p.m. for a domestic battery. Dispatch advised the victim had barricaded herself in the bathroom. Dispatch was advised by a reporting party that the suspect was seen on a Ring doorbell camera parked in his work truck at the end of the street.
Deputies approached the truck and observed the man reclined back and sleeping in the front driver's seat of the vehicle. A deputy made several announcements for the subject to come out of the vehicle. Eventually the man's son called him and explained that he needed to exit the vehicle. At this time, the man complied with all commands and he was detained, the report states.
Deputies learned during the investigation that the man had been arrested previously for domestic battery against the victim, which caused him to move out. The victim stated that when she returned home from a trip to the store, the man was inside the residence. He asked the victim why they weren't together anymore. She told him that she did not want to be in a relationship with him and he needed to leave, the report states.
The man became angry and began to yell and scream, pushing the victim and getting on top of her, and then grabbing the lanyard of keys that was around her neck and began to twist and tighten the lanyard, constricting her airway where she was unable to breath, the report states. The victim did not lose consciousness but said her vision began to tunnel due to lack of oxygen. The victim stated she kicked the man in the groin as hard as she could and struggled to get free of him. She then barricaded herself in the bathroom and called 911.
Deputies observed the woman had abrasions on her neck consistent with the lanyard constricting her airway. She also had scratching on the back of her neck.
Dispatch advised the man had a "no contact" order through the Department of Alternative Sentencing. He was taken to jail and booked for felony domestic battery by strangulation and violation of bail conditions. Bail: $18,000.
