Dayton mom accused of child endangerment after man overdoses on fentanyl in front of children
A Dayton mother was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of felony child endangerment after a man admitted to smoking fentanyl in front of the woman's three small disabled children, according to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.
Rachelle Cazel was arrested for three counts felony child endangerment following an investigation into the incident at
Dayton Inn Trailer Park in which a man reportedly overdosed on fentanyl.
Lyon County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to Dayton Inn Trailer Park regarding an overdose. They arrived and found a male subject in an altered state of consciousness who was able to verbally admit to smoking fentanyl in the trailer.
During the course of the investigation, deputies identified the woman's three small juveniles were present during this drug use and also were living in extremely poor conditions, according to the sheriff's office. Deputies observed the children at the trailer park have disabilities and special needs that were not being addressed by their mother.
The Nevada Division of Child and Family Services was contacted and responded and the children have been placed in a safe environment, according to the sheriff's office. Cazel is being held on $225,000 bail.
