DUI, thefts and warrants make up Carson City sheriff’s weekend arrests

A 47-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 12:49 a.m. in the area of Airport Road and Highway 50 on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI and open container in a vehicle, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, an officer responded to a report of a man passed out in a running vehicle. Officers arrived to find a red two door sedan with the motor running and the man sitting in the driver’s seat with his head down.

The deputy knocked on the window several times to wake up the driver. When he woke, he turned the car off. The officer asked him to roll down his window. The driver was confused and kept turning on and off the vehicle, the arrest report states.

He emitted a strong odor of alcohol and had to be assisted when getting out of the vehicle. He was unable to complete standardized field sobriety tests and submitted to a preliminary breath test but was unable to provide an adequate sample and would not make a seal around the PBT straw.

He did puff air in front of the PBT straw that resulted in a .195. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI and read the request for voluntary evidence and didn’t understand it. A telephonic warrant for a blood draw was requested and granted. Bail: $1,329.

In other arrests: A 32-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 5:41 p.m. in the 2900 block of South Carson Street on suspicion of DUI and speeding. According to the arrest report, officers observed the vehicle estimated going 50 in a 35 mph zone. A traffic stop was made. The man agreed to a preliminary breath test of a .140. He was arrested and taken to jail. He provided voluntary evidence tests of .119 and .108. Bail: $1,264.

— A 52-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Sunday, 8:55 a.m. on a misdemeanor contempt of court charge issued Feb. 2, 2015 out of Carson City Township Court. Bail: $509.

— A 37-year-old Sun Valley man was booked into Carson City Jail Sunday, 12:11 p.m. on a misdemeanor warrant, failure to comply, issued out of Sparks Municipal Court. Bail: $1,000.

Saturday
— A 22-year-old transient was arrested Saturday, 9:48 a.m. in the 3000 block of Roop Street on a misdemeanor charge of trespassing. According to the arrest report, the man was found sleeping in the restroom of a gas station. The manager asked he be arrested for trespassing and filled out a citizen’s arrest form. Bail: $237.

Friday
— A 63-year-old Kings Beach, Calif., man, Jess Andrew Lochridge, was booked into Carson City Jail Friday, 9:20 a.m. on a felony warrant, failure to stop at accident that caused injury, issued Feb. 6, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Booked and released.

— A 23-year-old Gardnerville woman, Emily Mercedes Mose, was arrested Friday, 10:04 p.m. in the 3700 block of South Carson Street on suspicion of felony shoplifting.
According to the arrest report, an officer was called to Raley’s in reference to a larceny. Loss Prevention had detained Mose, suspected of attempting to steal four bottles of hard liquor.

On arrival, the officer contacted the woman in the security office and advised her of her rights under Miranda which she waived. She signed a right’s waiver form and completed a written statement which attested to the following:

Moses contacted five subjects who convinced her to enter Raley’s with the intent to steal liquor for them and forgive the debt on behalf of one of the subjects. Mose agreed to do this and did intend to enter Raley’s and steal the liquor without paying for it.
Loss prevention recovered four 750 mL bottles of hard liquor amounting to a value of $92.80 from Mose, the arrest report states.
She was arrested and booked on a felony charge of burglary by shoplifting. Bail: $2,500.

— A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 11:48 a.m. in the 600 block of Hot Springs Road on a misdemeanor warrant, failure to appear, issued Dec. 30, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $830.

— A 29-year-old Minden man was booked Friday, 11:50 a.m. into Carson City Jail on a misdemeanor warrant, violation of a suspended sentence, issued Oct. 22, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.

— A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 11:05 a.m., in the 3800 block of Highway 50 East on a misdemeanor warrant alleging criminal contempt, issued Feb. 9, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

— A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 10:13 p.m. in the area of Washington and Roop streets on a misdemeanor warrant charge, failure to appear for a traffic citation. Bail: $185.

— A 52-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday, 5:34 p.m. in the 3700 block of South Carson Street on a misdemeanor charge of larceny. The woman allegedly took a bottle of herbal supplements, valued at $20 and put them in her purse without paying. She was stopped outside the store. Bail: $352.

— A 30-year-old Sparks man was arrested Friday, 10:34 a.m. int he 16000 block of Brown Street on a misdemeanor charge, contempt of court warrant, violation of pre-trial conditions, issued Feb. 9, 2015. Bail: $3,000.

— A 48-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Friday, 4:12 p.m. on a misdemeanor warrant for petit larceny, issued March 24, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

— A 25-year-old Carson City woman was booked into jail Friday, 4 p.m. on a misdemeanor warrant, contempt of court on a traffic citation, issued Feb. 10, 2015 out of Carson City Township Court. Bail: $474.

— A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 3:50 p.m. in the area of Silver Sage and Koontz Lane on a gross misdemeanor charge of aiming a firearm at a person. According to the arrest report, officers were called to the area regarding a subject pointing a gun at a person on a scooter. Upon arrive the officer met with two people who said they were riding their scooter southbound on Silver Sage north of Koontz when a sliver Honda pulled up next to them, honked their horn and then pointed a black handgun and shouted for them to “get off the road,” according to the arrest report. One of the two, a female, said the man pointed the gun directly at her.

Officers then spoke with the male passenger of the vehicle who said that he pointed the gun at the female when she walked up to the car. He said he didn’t see anything in the woman’s hands but that she was acting aggressively. The man was arrested for aiming a firearm at a person and taken to jail. Bail: $2,500.

— A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 10:57 p.m. in the 1600 block of Salmon Drive on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery. According to the arrest report, the man allegedly hit his step father on the side of the head after an argument that involved the suspect and his mother.

The suspect accused his mother of stealing marijuana from his room. The victim had a red bruising area on the left side of his head.
Officers spoke with the mother who said her son has mental health problems and has not been taking his medication and that he has been smoking marijuana, which makes him paranoid, the mother said. She said her son pushed her and the step father intervened, and got punched in the side of the head. Bail: $3,137.

Those arrested on criminal charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Just before noon a fire was reported on BLM land in Brunswick Canyon.

According to Fire Chief Sean Slamon, it is a vegetation fire in a remote part of Brunswick Canyon.

At approximately 5:30 PM on June 26, 2024 the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Central Command Patrol Squad responded to the Lahontan State Park Ranger Station at Lake Lahontan for a report of an adult male subject who had been shot multiple times.
