Light snow arrives in Carson City region and Sierra, commuters can expect slick road conditions
Light snow arrived throughout the region Tuesday morning as part of a fast moving cold front that will continue through the day, bringing slick road conditions before shifting to areas south of Highway 50 this afternoon and into Mono County tonight.
Dry weather along with a gradual warming trend returns for mid to late week, according to the National Weather Service in Reno. A similar slider-type system with gusty winds and light precipitation is possible early next week.
Given that the snow began to fall this morning with minimal road heating, slick and/or slushy road conditions will remain a concern for this morning's commute, especially over foothill and Sierra locations above 4,500 feet. Road temperatures and concerns in lower valley areas should lag a bit but still make for slick conditions around sunrise.

A noteworthy chill will fill the area as the colder continental air combines with northerly winds of 10-20 mph that will have occasional gusts to 25 mph, according to the weather service.
