Carson City arrests: Woman jailed for threatening ex-boyfriend with knife in front of their toddler

A 38-year-old woman was arrested Friday for suspicion of child neglect, assault with a deadly weapon and domestic battery, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

Jeanine Gail Demar was taken into custody at 10:22 a.m. following an investigation. According to the booking report, deputies were dispatched to the 1900 block of North Carson Street for a welfare check. Dispatch advised the reporting party said her mother was at the location and threatening to kill her ex-boyfriend. The reporting party advised the woman was going to use a knife to kill the boyfriend, the report states.

Deputies arrived on scene and could hear an argument from inside a room. The officer could hear a female voice saying "you should have killed yourself." The officer heard a male's voice respond saying "I didn't do anything."

The officer then observed the woman exit the room. She was crying and screaming. A deputy asked to speak with her aside from the room. The woman told a deputy that the daughter (the reporting party) had disclosed to her that she was molested by the man in the past.

The deputy went into the room to speak with the man and learned Demar obtained chef's knives out of his backpack and held them toward his head. She also grabbed the man's neck and struck him on the left side of his head. The man had obvious fresh injures on his neck and head, the report states. The officer observed a large chef knife with a black handle and aluminum or silver blade by the front door.

Deputies learned there was a 2-year-old child on scene. The two in the altercation were the child's parents, the arrest report states. The child was with the suspect and the man during the entire altercation in which the female suspect allegedly brandished the knife and battered the man.

A deputy returned to the woman and read her the Miranda warning. She advised she understood her rights and voluntarily spoke with the deputy. She admitted to grabbing a knife out of the man's backpack and pointing it toward him after, she said, her daughter (reporting party) advised she was molested.

She also said she grabbed the man during the altercation and said the man didn't touch her. She did not have any injuries on her person. The suspect advised their child was in the room during the entire altercation. She was arrested for suspicion of neglect, assault with a deadly weapon and domestic battery. Bail: $40,000.
