Carson City Sheriff's Office accepting applications for spring CCSO Citizen's Academy
The Carson City Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for the Spring 2023 Citizen Academy. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the sheriff, deputies and K9s and participate in a number of learning opportunities about the function of the sheriff's office.
Citizen Academy attendees will learn about patrol, the Special Enforcement Team, administration, CCSO motors, the coroner, visit the jail, dispatch, evidence, see drones in action, virtual reality training, learn how 3D can be used to document an accident scene, attend a presentation by SWAT at the city's Fire Training Ground and much more.
The Academy runs 11 consecutive weeks beginning Thursday, April 6 through Thursday, June 11. The Academy meets in the Ormsby Room located at 911 East Musser Street from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Thursday night. There is no charge for the Citizen Academy.
Attendees must be 18 or older and will be required to complete an application and undergo a basic background check. Seating is limited. Applications are available by mail and at the front counter of the Carson City Sheriff's Office, 911 East Musser Street.
