Carson City deputies make arrests for burglary tool possession, DUI and Reno warrant
A 32-year man was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of gross misdemeanor possession of burglary tools and being an ex-felon failing to register, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy report.
At 8:43 a.m. a deputy made a consensual pedestrian stop in the 1900 block of North Carson Street. The officer recognized the man from previous contacts where he was a suspect in a burglary.
The deputy asked the man if he could search his person and backpack. The man replied yes. The deputy located in the bottom of the backpack, a tool referred to as "channel locks" and a metal punch, commonly used to break glass, in his left pants pocket. Both tools are commonly used to gain access to vehicles and buildings during commission of burglaries, the report states.
He was arrested and booked for suspicion of possession of burglary tools and failing to register as an ex-felon. Bail: $2,742.
In other arrests:
— A 38-year-old man was arrested early Monday for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI, failure to maintain a lane and driving on a suspended license, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Deputies responded late Sunday night to a vehicle that crashed into a car parked in front of a residence. Deputies located the pickup in the front yard of a house with its hazard lights on. There was heavy front end damage to the vehicle, and there was a Subaru Outback that had heavy rear damage, the report states.
Deputies contacted the driver of the truck who identified himself. He stated he was driving, leaned over to pick something off the floorboard that had fallen and had left the road and crashed, the report states.
The driver had thick, slurred speech, red and watery eyes and a moderate odor of alcohol from his breath. A deputy informed the man of observations that led him to believe he was under the influence and read him questions for the standardized field sobriety tests, which he was unable to satisfactorily complete the tests, the report states.
He was placed under arrest and was read the request for voluntary evidence, which he declined. The deputy applied for a telephonic search warrant that was granted by a judge at around 1 a.m. Blood samples were collected and entered into evidence. Total bail amount listed: $1,861.
— A 47-year-old Carson City man was arrested at 1:40 p.m. Monday for a misdemeanor outside agency warrant issued out of Reno Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
