Weather Service: Sharp stream rises possible tonight
Moderate to heavy bands of rain moving through the Sierra and western Nevada are likely to cause rapid rises in small streams Sunday night, according a special weather statement issued at 5:58 p.m. by the National Weather Service.
While significant flooding is not expected, small streams that drain into Lake Tahoe and the east side of the Carson Range could rise to near the top of their banks tonight. Snow levels are expected to drop late Sunday night causing less run off into the streams.
The weather service advises those living or driving near small streams should be alert to the potential for rapid rises with minor flooding.
