Three in custody following major vehicle burglary, theft operation at Carson City dealership

Three people are in custody Sunday following a major vehicle burglary and theft investigation that happened over the weekend at Michael Hohl Motors dealership, Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong confirmed.

The incident, which remains an active investigation, involved the theft of a vehicle, at least 22 vehicle key fobs, an undetermined amount of cash, and mechanic and diagnostic equipment as well as damage to other vehicles at the dealership located in the 3700 block of South Carson Street.

The suspects also apparently rammed a vehicle through the dealership's gate, causing damage to other vehicles, in order to escape from the lot, said Furlong.

The incident was reported to the Carson City Sheriff's Office on Saturday morning.

The suspects are in custody because of alert Carson City sheriff's deputies who were able to track down a suspicious vehicle on Saturday and the stolen vehicle on Sunday, said Furlong.

The suspects are two men and one woman from California. They face multiple felony charges. Their names and charges are forthcoming, said Sheriff Furlong.

"They really hit the place hard," said Furlong, adding that detectives are continuing to piece the evidence together. "This is an active investigation. We believe we have everyone involved in custody and we are now assessing the damages, recoveries and losses."

Furlong said early assessment of damages is at least $100,000.

"The impact of this would have been enormous had it not been for those alert deputies," he said.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
