Carson City man identified in Jan. 24 fatal crash on I-580 in Washoe County
The Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol division has identified a Carson City man who died in a Jan. 24 crash on I-580 in Washoe County.
At approximately 6:16 p.m., Nevada State Police responded to a reported crash at the location of southbound I-580, north of mile marker 13, in Washoe County, according to a preliminary investigation.
Upon arrival it was determined that a red Chevrolet Colorado pickup with an adult male driver was traveling southbound on I-580 north of MM13. At the same time, a white Nissan Frontier pickup was disabled on the right shoulder, ahead of the Chevrolet Colorado.
The driver of the Nissan Frontier was outside next to the left rear of the disabled vehicle. For reasons unknown, the red Chevrolet Colorado drifted into the right shoulder striking the driver and the Nissan Frontier.
The driver of the Nissan Frontier has been identified as, Oscar Orlando Acosta-Manzano, a 53 year-old adult male from Carson City, Nev. Manzano succumbed to his injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced deceased on-scene.
Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Northern Command West M.I.R.T (Multidisciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team) is investigating this crash.
This was the first fatal crash and first fatality for 2023, according to Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol, Northern Command West.
