Plumas Bank on North Carson Street in Carson City held up in robbery, suspect flees on foot
UPDATE: Carson City Sheriff's Office responded Thursday morning to a robbery at Plumas Bank in the 1100 block of North Carson Street in which the suspect was armed with a gun, fled with an undisclosed amount of money and is considered dangerous.
The suspect is described as wearing all black, was a black male adult, 5 feet 7 inches, wearing a hoodie. The suspect used a gun in the robbery and was given money and fled on foot in the area, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.
"He is considered armed and dangerous," said Furlong.
No injuries were reported. The FBI is investigating the bank robbery and are on scene.
The robbery happened shortly before 9:20 a.m.
Nearby Pioneer Academy was placed on "secure protocol" which is a directive to get inside and lock outside doors and safeguard people within the building. A secure protocol is different than a lockdown situation in that a lockdown is a protocol used to secure individual rooms and keep occupants quiet and in place if there's a threat inside, said Carson City School District spokesman Dan Davis.
The suspect was last seen running in the direction of John and Fall streets.
