Carson City sheriff's deputies place three in custody facing home invasion charges

UPDATE 9:45PM: A 19-year-old man and two male juveniles face charges of felony home invasion after allegedly breaking into a Siskiyou Drive home Monday night, said Carson City Sheriff’s Lt. Brian Humphrey.
After detectives interviewed the subjects, it was determined they are not the ones believed to be involved in a rash of residential burglaries that have happened primarily on the west side of Carson City, said Humphrey. Investigators learned the suspects knew the person living at the home and knew of property inside they wanted to steal.
The trio were arrested inside the home after a reporting witness called 911 regarding a break-in. Officers arrived and the three were found inside the home, Humphrey said. The Nevada Highway Patrol also assisted.
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in putting an end to the burglary outbreak in which more than 20 home invasions have happened around town. They are asking homeowners and occupants to be vigilant and to report anything suspicious in their neighbors, including parked vehicles that seem out of place or people inside parked vehicles outside of homes for long periods of time. The suspect and/or suspects may also be canvasing areas on foot going door to door to see if anyone is at home during the day.

Three were taken into custody Monday night following a home invasion that happened before 7 p.m. in the area of Siskiyou Drive in Carson City. According to police scanner traffic, a reporting witness came home and heard noises inside the home and the garage.
The Carson City Sheriff's Office was called and responded. Inside the garage officers found three of the suspects.
It is unknown if the home invasion on Siskiyou is related to a string of burglaries that have been happening primarily on the west side of Carson City with the latest on Saturday night at a South Edmonds home in which an elderly woman left her residence and returned within an hour to see it ransacked and had property stolen.
Monday night's home invasion wasn't in the area where a number of burglaries have happened, said Carson City Sheriff's Lt. Brian Humphrey.
"What we have are three in custody for residential burglary and detectives are following up on it to see if it is related to the other burglaries going on in town," said Humphrey.
