Motorists advised of patchy fog over Carson City, Carson Valley and Washoe Valley
Patchy freezing fog has developed Tuesday morning across Carson City and western Nevada causing visibility to be limited for drivers on roadways especially through Washoe Valley and Carson Valley.
This fog is expected to stick around through the morning commute then begin to burn off later Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
Visibility is highly variable but as low as several hundred feet including parts of the Carson Valley, Washoe Valley along I-580 and around Truckee. On Highway 395 in Carson Valley, a three vehicle crash happened at around 7:50 a.m. No serious injuries were reported. The crash blocked one southbound lane.
Freezing fog is also possible in other valley locations of west central Nevada around Lovelock and Fallon and in the Honey Lake Basin between Susanville and the state line.
Be prepared for sudden changes in visibility. Slow down and turn on your headlights when encountering fog. Also, watch for black ice where roads, sidewalks and porches that remained wet overnight as temperatures were or nearly freezing across the Carson City region.
