Slick conditions on Carson City roads with combined freezing fog, snow and black ice
Carson City emergency crews have remained busy this morning responding to vehicle crashes, including one near the high school, one at Carson Meadows and Robinson Street and on Stewart and Musser streets in which a four-year-old got a bump on the head in a two-vehicle crash.
Light snow, freezing fog and cold temperatures are making the morning commute difficult. Drivers are advised to slow down and leave at least two car lengths of space between vehicles. Minor injuries were reported in the crash at Stewart and Musser streets.
Meanwhile, Carson City School District is open with no delays, said Cheri Fletcher, Transportation Supervisor for the district.
Snow showers are expected to continue through the day, with around an inch or so expected. The freezing fog should remain throughout the morning.
Thursday's weather system is another of a number of storms lined up, bringing snow to the Sierra. There may be some relief Friday from the snow and freezing rain, but by Friday night another system is expected to arrive bringing light snow down to the valley floors, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
