Carson City deputies make child endangerment, DUI arrests
A woman was arrested Dec. 30 for suspicion of child neglect and endangerment after she was found to be grossly intoxicated and stumbling while pushing her 2-year-old child in a stroller at night in the rain, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched at 9:38 p.m. to the 700 block of Silver Oak Drive in an attempt to locate an intoxicated woman stumbling while pushing a child in a stroller.
A deputy located the woman and her 2-year-old daughter at a North Carson Street convenience store. The officer observed the woman was grossly intoxicated, had a strong odor of alcohol on her person, was unsteady on her feet and her speech was slurred.
The arresting deputy noted the outside temperatures was approximately 49 degrees with a steady rain. The officer observed the 2-year-old was wearing a jacket that was wet from rain, and that the child's hair was also wet. The stroller top was also wet and had collected water and there was significant amounts of water in the stroller cup compartments, the report states.
The woman provided a preliminary breath test of .387. She was unable to make coherent statements or provide straightforward answers. She stated there were no other adults in the apartment to care for her or her daughter. A Division of Child and Family Service representative was contacted.
The woman was taken to the hospital for medical clearance and then to jail where she was booked for suspicion of gross misdemeanor child neglect/endangerment Bail: $2,500.

— A 48-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Jan. 1 for suspicion of DUI and violation of pretrial conditions, both misdemeanor offenses.
According to the booking report, a CCSO deputy was dispatched to look for a possible DUI driver who crashed near an East Willam Street fast food restaurant.
The officer located the vehicle sitting on top of a snow bank at the intersection of East Willam and North Fall Street. The officer could smell an odor of alcohol on her breath and she had slurred speech. Dispatch advised the woman was on alternative sentencing with a condition not to drinking alcohol.
The woman agreed to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment on the tests. She provided a partial preliminary breath test of .230 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI and violation of pre-trial conditions. At jail she consented to an evidentiary blood draw. Bail: $4,137.
— A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested Jan. 1, 12:36 a.m. for suspicion of discharging a firearm within city limit and a misdemeanor warrant alleging domestic battery.
According to the arrest report, dispatch advised of a "shots fired" call near a Brown Street apartment complex. The reporting party stated there were two male subjects outside the apartment holding and firing pump-action shotguns.
Arriving deputies were advised the subjects went back inside their apartment and were informed which apartment. Deputies made contact with those in the apartment. Three were detained.
Deputies were able to obtain video and still photos that showed three subjects, including the suspect, with the shotgun in the location. In the photos it showed one subject with a black pump-action rifle pointing down toward the parking lot and then up to the sky. Witnesses said they heard approximately 2-3 shots. The video recordings did not have audio, the report notes.
The suspect in the apartment declined consent to search for the weapon. Due to the suspect declining consent a search warrant was granted by a judge to locate the firearm. It was located and booked into evidence.
Due to the cooperation of two of the other subjects involved, they were issued misdemeanor citations for their respective role in discharging a firearm in public. The 28-year-old, who had a warrant for his arrest alleging domestic battery, was taken to jail and booked for misdemeanor discharging a firearm within city limits and the domestic battery warrant. Bail: $3,637.
— A 22-year-old Sun Valley man was arrested Dec. 31 for suspicion of DUI. According to the arrest report a deputy observed a vehicle with a burnt-out headlamp, traveling along North Carson Street. The officer observed the vehicle travel within a foot of the sidewalk, and then returned to the No. 2 travel lane.
The deputy made a traffic stop and observed the driver had red watery eyes and an odor of alcohol coming from his breath. The man was asked if he had been drinking in which he replied he was the designated driver. He was asked when he had his last drink. The man stated an hour ago.
The man showed signs of impairment on field sobriety tests and provided a preliminary breath test of .137. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI. Bail: $1,137.
