11 arrests over New Year's celebration period at Stateline, Lake Tahoe and Carson Valley
New Year's Eve celebrations at Stateline, Lake Tahoe and Carson Valley had a lower number of calls for service than the 2017-2018 celebration with 11 arrests between the lake and valley, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
The Stateline area on Dec. 31, 2018 through Jan. 1, 2019 saw 7 arrests for criminal crimes including DUI, 2 persons taken for Civil Protective Custody due to being unable to care for themselves, and 2 persons medically transported for medical needs due to excessive alcohol use.
The sheriff's office estimates the Stateline casino core crowd at its peak around 5,000 to 6,000 people, said DCSO Sgt. Ron Elges.
The arrests in Stateline were battery on a police officer, multiple arrests for trespassing, and simple batteries.
In the Carson Valley there were four arrests for resisting a police officer, battery, probation violation, and trespassing. One person was detained for civil protective custody and released when sober.
The arrests and incidents at Stateline were down from the previous year.
