Carson City Park Ranger programs feature 'ugly sweater' walk, Silver Saddle Ranch history tour
Happy Holidays from the Carson City Park Rangers! Every month, the Park Rangers offer various Ranger-Led programs that include educational opportunities, historical fun, and exciting adventures. Programs are offered for free just register online.

Here's what's coming up this month:
Ugly Sweater Walk
Start out your December with a Park Ranger and your favorite ugly sweater for the 3rd annual Ugly Sweater Walk! We will be walking from Morgan Mill River Access along the Carson River while learning about winter wildlife and how they adapt to the cold weather with their fur coats.
The trail is considered "easy" according to the IMBA and will be about two miles long. Expect flat terrain and minimal obstacles.
Date: Saturday, December 3, 2022
Time: 10:00am-12:00pm
Location: Morgan Mill River Access located at the East end of Morgan Mill Rd.
Need to Know:
- Online Registration is required
- Minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult
- Dogs are welcome but must remain on a six foot leash..... and ugly doggie sweaters are encouraged!
Silver Saddle Ranch Historical Tour
Planning on attending Homestead Holidays? Join the Carson City Parks Rangers for a historical tour of Silver Saddle Ranch and explore the Red House with the Friends of Sliver Saddle Ranch! From mining to ranching to outdoor recreation, Silver Saddle Ranch and the Carson River have been integral parts of Carson City's history and remain important to this day. This tour will take you around the property and dive deep into the historical roots of the area.
The trail is considered "easy" according to the IMBA and will be less than a half mile. This program is focused more on historical content than a hiking adventure, bring your thinking cap, not your hiking pack!
