PTO leader to speak at Monday's Democratic luncheon
Speaking at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Jason Hastings, who has served in leadership positions with the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) since their children started school in Carson City. Wife Lisa is also active with PTO, and is currently servng as president. At Monday's luncheon, Jason and Lisa will provide an update on current PTO activities, interests, and goals.
Jason's professional path has included significant roles within the nutraceutical industry, where he put his considerable knowledge and leadership skills to good use. As Chief Operating and Science Officer, he has over a decade of research experience in the fields of food safety, production, and higher education. In addition to organizing and leading laboratory teams, Jason has also developed management programs that spurred his company's growth. He has expertise across a broad range of operations, from laboratory design, analytical method development, adherence to Good Laboratory Practices ("GLP") and Current Good Manufacturing Practices ("CGMP"), to cost analysis, regulatory practices, and supply chain management.
As Senior Manager of Science and Education, he is engaged in the research and development of health-focused products for people of all ages. His focus is on finding innovative ways to foster well-being and a longer, healthier life through proper nutrition. His educational efforts extend beyond his professional life, touching the lives of many in the community.
Jason Hasting’s connection with Carson City began in 1993, when at the age of seven his family made Carson City their home. Engaging in sports from an early age, he developed an understanding of the value of both teamwork and self-discipline. He says that those qualities that have inspired and guided him throughout his adult life. Taken together, his life experiences have deepened his ties with the community, and shaped his personal and professional ethos.
Jason's academic journey took him to the University of Nevada, Reno, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Material Science and Engineering. At UNR he served as Vice President of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. His high school activities were also formative, having risen to the level of Executive Officer in Junior ROTC. It was also at Carson High that he met his future wife Lisa.
Beyond his career pursuits, Jason has also served as president and then treaurer of his daughters' PTO. He also founding the College Bound Cadet scholarship at Carson High. If his name sounds familiar, it's because he was one of five candidates for Mayor of Carson City in the June 11 primary, and was the sole registered Democrat in that field.
This luncheon is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Monday, November 4th, and can either be attended in person at Black Bear Diner, inside Max Casino, or online via Zoom.
