Carson Holds On To Win 12 In A Row
It was a special "Pinkies and Parents" night at Carson High School earlier tonight as the Senators made battle with the Grizzlies on the volleyball court. The Senators came into the game with a ton of momentum and an 11 match winning streak. The match took place a little past schedule with all of the festivities before the game, but got underway none the less.
The first set was very intense and competitive. It seemed to be going back and forth with no team extending a lead past four the entirety of the set. Galena found themselves in the driver's seat late into the first set with 3 set points at 24-21, but couldn't finish until a little later and took the first set at 28-26.
The second set Carson came out looking much stronger extending their lead all the way to to 11-5. The Senators continued with good ball control to take the set at 25-17 and leveled the set score out to one a piece.
The third set it was Galena who hopped out in front to an early lead until Carson brought it back to 13 all. Carson extend a small lead to 22-18 before Galena called a tactical time out that didn't do much good because the Senators took set three with a score of 25-20.
The fourth set it was all Carson early extending their lead to as much as 7 at 17-10, but Galena made a very impressive run late to put them at set point at 24-23. The final chapter would favor the Carson squad who would at last close out set number four and the match with a score of 28-26 and extend their winning streak to 12.
Head coach Robert Maw commented on the Senators hot streak with, "Our quickness and athleticism is why we've been so hot. It's easy to be average but it is tough to be good for a long run and the girls are scared of losing so they always show up to play." Maw also stated that, "It's going to come down to Manogue." The Senators next match is indeed Manogue at Manogue next Tuesday at 6:00.
