Large buck seen roaming Carson City may be new 'King of Carson'
Carson Now reader Mark Zacha submitted these photos of a very large buck seen looking for food in Carson City's Silver Oak area on Flintwood Drive. Could it be the next "King of Carson" he asks?
"We call him Big Ben, a very large buck that visits my backyard and stays the day eating what he can find," writes Zacha. "In the past several weeks we have had as many as six bucks in our small backyard."
The iconic "King of Carson" was a very large, photo friendly and beloved Carson City resident buck who died in a backyard in early September. A necropsy, or animal autopsy, done on the 11-year-old deer showed he most likely died of natural causes associated with blood loss from shedding his velvet, according to Nevada Department of Wildlife Game Warden Jake Kreamer.
