Tradition continues: Capital City Community Band to host free Nevada Day concert
The Capital City Community Band will present its annual Nevada Day concert at 2 p.m. immediately following the parade, on Saturday, Oct. 26 in the Capital Amphitheater in Carson City.
The concert will feature a variety of music from Marches to Seasonal music and Patriotic songs. A special feature will be “Home Means Nevada” by Marine Band arranger Sgt. Scott Ninmer. This arrangement features Jen Simkins, voice, and Todd DeVito on Euphonium.
The free concert will also include the band’s traditional musical salute to each branch of our armed forces. A new service song has been recently added to honor the U.S. Space Force. Semper Supra is named after the USSF motto “Always Above” and was written by James W. Teachenor, II and published in 2022.
The band, founded in 1978 by Richard Doede, is under the direction of Mr. Nick Jacques and is comprised of community members from Carson City, Dayton, Reno, Sparks, and Gardnerville.
Parents are encouraged to bring their children to enjoy this concert. Bring a lawn chair or blanket on which to sit. Come and enjoy a free concert on Saturday, October 28 in the Capital Amphitheater in the Legislative Mall at 2 p.m.
