Sierra Pacific Credit Union Partners with Reno Cigar Lions Club to Collect Computers for Families Displaced by Davis Fire
In a joint effort to assist families affected by the Davis Fire, Sierra Pacific Credit Union has teamed up with the Reno Cigar Lions Club’s Computers for Kids program. Together, they are working to provide much-needed technology for children and families who have been displaced. Sierra Pacific Credit Union is accepting donations of working PCs, laptops, and computer accessories at all three of its Reno branches.
Donated computers will be distributed to kids displaced by the fire, ensuring they have the tools necessary to continue schooling and stay connected during this difficult time. All computers will be professionally wiped of existing data, applications, and operating systems and installed with secure new systems before distribution.
“We’re so grateful for the support of our community during this challenging time,” said Leslie Ramsdell, CEO of Sierra Pacific Credit Union. “By donating your old computer, you’re giving a displaced child or family a chance to stay connected.”
“Our Lions Club has been able to help thousands of local students access refurbished, secure, private computers in the past 17 years,” said Ira Victor, Reno Cigar Lions Board Member. “With support from community partners like Sierra Pacific Credit Union, we were able to help families access education during COVID, were granted the coveted Partners in Education (PIE) award, and are now able to support those impacted by the Davis Fire.”
The donation drive will run until October 31st. Anyone with unused computers, laptops, or accessories in working condition is encouraged to drop off their donation at one of the following Sierra Pacific Credit Union branches:
South Reno Branch – 6100 Neil Road, Suite 150
Mill Street Branch – 5580 Mill Street, Suite 700
Saint Mary’s Branch – 645 N. Arlington Ave, Suite 300
