Volunteers sought for 2024 Empty Bowls Carson City

December 6, 2024 - 4:00pm Make a bowl and have some fun. Volunteers are needed for Empty Bowls activities. The Empty Bowls fundraiser events are underway for 2024. We are looking for volunteers to make and paint bowls and/or volunteer at various events throughout the year.
What is Empty Bowls?
Empty Bowls is a grassroots initiative that raises funds for food-related programs to combat food insecurity. Here in Carson City, Ogres-Holm Pottery and Friends in Service Helping (F.I.S.H.) partner together for the big annual fundraising event that happens in December. Throughout the year, potters, artisans, and ordinary people create and donate handcrafted ceramic bowls and raise funds for the main event. In December, local restaurants donate soup, and a ticket gets you a delicious meal and an empty ceramic bowl to take home as a reminder of the work we still need to do to make sure our community is well fed.
How Can You Help?
1. Make a Bowl
Feeling creative? Want something fun to do with family or friends? Every other Thursday night, Ogres-Holm Pottery opens its studio to anyone who wants to help create ceramic bowls. All bowls are donated to the event in December. It's free and no experience is needed! We will teach you how to create and decorate the Empty Bowls. 2. Join us at an Event
Enjoy talking with people? You can help us get the word out. We need volunteers who can help at events such as craft fairs and the farmer's market. Tasks include setting up, tearing down, and all the fun conversations in between. 3. Donate
We accept donations anytime for bowl making supplies such as clay and glazes/paints, as well as firing costs for the bowls. Last year's bowls can be purchased for a $15 donation, or just offer what you can. As we get closer to the main event, we will be accepting raffle prizes and donations for a silent auction.
