Carson City Republican Women invite its members and community to attend the upcoming meeting Tuesday, September 21, 2021 to hear John Tsarpalas, President, Nevada Policy Research Institute. Mr. Tsarpalas is deeply committed to spreading limited government ideas and policy to create a better, more prosperous Nevada for all.

The social time begins at 11:00 a.m. lunch and program at 11:30 a.m. The cost per person for the lunch/meeting is $25.00 and reservations are mandatory by Friday, September 17 by contacting Lori at 775-220-3646. The meeting is held at Casino Fandango in Carson City.

Carson City Republican Women members donate their time and funds in helping PAWS Up for Veterans, the Northern NV Dream Center, CASA and Advocates to End Domestic Violence. They also volunteer at the local Republican headquarters and the Carson Senior Center.

We welcome all who are new to the greater Carson City area and are interested in becoming involved with CCRW.

Carson City’s Leisure Hour Club begins the New Year with local author Brooke Santina, whose first novel "Dishrags to Dirtbags" tells the story of a meek housewife’s plunge into the often dangerous and mostly crazy world of law enforcement. The presentation will be at the Club’s dinner meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 17.

After training exercises last month by the Carson City Fire Department, the old Thurman Ranch House, a family and basque style steak house that closed in 2013, is being cleared out.

The building has been unoccupied since closing. Last month the Carson City Fire Department used it for fire training purposes.

The owners of the property, Tim and Joyce Smith, agreed to have the buildings taken down on the property, which is 0.76 acres, according to the property's Real Estate Agent Bruce Robertson.

Fewer traffic fatalities, including pedestrian deaths, were reported in Carson City during 2017, according to data released by the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety, whose statewide numbers showed a decrease in overall traffic deaths but an increase in pedestrian fatalities last year.

Philip J. DuBois “Phil,” owner of DuBois Health Center since 1964, passed away on December 31, 2017. Phil was born November 6, 1932 to Roland and Lulu DuBois in Haverhill, Massachusetts. A beautiful Supermoon rising Monday night in Carson City.

The second supermoon in a series of three will happen tonight, Monday, Jan. 1, 2018 with the peak occurring at 6:24 p.m. Pacific Time. The forecast calls for scattered high clouds and relatively mild conditions for this time of the year. The final supermoon in the series will happen Jan. 31, which also corresponds with a lunar eclipse for some parts of the world.
