Sierra Nevada Forums resume September in Carson City
The Sierra Nevada Forums, in partnership with the American Association of University Women and the League of Women Voters of Northern Nevada will host UNR Innovative Research and Medical Breakthroughs on September 19 at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W King St in Carson City.
Doors open at 5:30 pm and the program starts at 6 pm. The forums are co-sponsored by the Nevada Appeal. This is the eighth season of free community forums on topics of current interest.
The September 19 forum will be moderated by local physician Timothy McFarren, MD. Presenters include Danielle Eaton, MBA, to provide an overview of clinical research programs at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine and Renown Health.
Lee S. Schwartzberg, MD, section chief of medical oncology administration at Renown Health will discuss current developments in cancer research. Michael Bloch, MD, medical director of vascular medicine at Renown’s Institute for Heart and Vascular Health, will cover current developments in heart disease research.
Each presenter will speak for about 20 minutes, with time reserved for written questions from members of the audience. The Forum will be videoed by the Nevada Appeal for later viewing on their YouTube page and through links on each organization’s website or Facebook page.

Future forums are planned for the second Tuesday of the month in November, January, March and May.
