Artist Reception for Katherine Case
Join Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery in the front yard Saturday, August 20 as we enjoy some of Katherine's newest pieces of work. Here is a little about Katherine and Meridian Press:
Katherine Case is a poet, printmaker and former Peace Corps Volunteer. Her poetry has appeared in numerous national publications and her linoleum carvings have illustrated books and broadsides, for which she has collaborated with poets such as Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Kay Ryan, and Chana Bloch.
Katherine has taught book arts and letterpress printing for nearly a decade at the Academy of Art University, the Nevada Museum of Art, the San Francisco Center for the Book and Sierra Nevada College. She owns and operates Meridian Press in Reno, Nevada, where she publishes poetry chapbooks, broadsides, stationery and limited-edition linoleum-cut prints.
At Meridian Press, up the big hill from the Truckee River in the shadow of the Sierra Nevada mountains, Katherine hand-sets metal type and prints on an antique SP-15 Vandercook proof press. She calls up inspiration from the traditional textile patterns of Africa, Aisia and the Pacific; from poetry and music; from her two small children and from the diverse and abundant landscapes of the Reno-Tahoe area.
Artsy Fartsy is located at 405 N. Nevada Street and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
