July 4 safety reminder from the Carson City Sheriff's Office
Independence Day is an exciting day to celebrate family, friends, and what matters most. It is important to cherish such holidays and create joyous moments, don’t let these moments become remorse. Please safely enjoy the holiday!
Fire danger is very high; the use of fireworks can have severe consequences. Personal use of fireworks is illegal. Even Safe and Sane labeled fireworks which may include cone fountains, sparklers, wheels and whistles, are illegal in Carson City.
— The fireworks will begin around 9:30 p.m., after the show please drive with extra care as pedestrians will be crossing busy streets to exit Mills Park in the dark. Wear glow sticks if traveling on foot near busy streets and always use the crosswalks. Cross streets with extreme caution.
— Sheriff’s Patrol will be watching for drivers under the influence. Please do not drink and drive, plan accordingly and arrange a ride!
Wishing the community a very happy and safe Independence Day!
