There's Texas, and then there's West Texas—a place you may leave physically, but its spirit never truly lets you go. The newly formed West Texas Exiles know this all too well. United by their love for music and a burning desire to escape their hometowns, fate brought them together in the vibrant city of Austin. Despite having an upcoming EP in the works, their collective talent runs deep, with three incredible singer-songwriters—Marco Gutierrez (Dirty River Boys), Daniel Davis, and Colin Gilmore—supported by the skilled bassist/producer Eric Harrison and drummer Trinidad Leal (DRB, Dixie Witch, Grady, Honky).

Drawing inspiration from musical legends like The Flatlanders, Buddy Holly, Augustana, and Jason Isbell, the West Texas Exiles inject a fresh interpretation into the Lone Star vernacular, reinvigorating the music scene. Their sound is grounded in rhythmic and lyrical honesty, reflecting the vastness of the West Texas sky and the relentless energy of a world that never stays still for long. Their first single, "New Moon Foe," accompanied an exciting tour in May 2022, while their second single, "Hotel Tomorrow," conjures the captivating essence of southwestern Americana at its most bewitching. However, it is their eponymous track, "Exile," that boldly declares their intentions—their journey as a band of outsiders isn't just a waltz across Texas; it's a ride into the sunset, seeking new horizons, “while I still have my boots on my feet.” Discover the spirit and sound of West Texas with your new favorite band The West Texas Exiles at the “Swan Music Hall.”

Every year throughout our region, pets are found dead in cars due to heat exhaustion, including those with windows cracked.

With outside temperatures often in the 90s and above, internal car temperatures can reach anywhere from 114 degrees after 10 minutes, to 140 degrees after an hour. Cracking a window often does nothing at all as rolling down the windows has been shown to have little effect on the temperature inside a car, according to the Humane Society of the U.S.
