Lancers prove too much for Carson to handle on the softball diamond
There was early action on the softball diamond as Carson hosted McQueen Tuesday. McQueen needed little to no time to take the advantage in the top of the first going up 4-0 after a couple wild pitches and a plethora of good at-bats by their Lancer offense.
After a scoreless bottom of the first and top of the second it seemed that McQueen would roll over Carson, but not if Becka Breuer had anything to say about it. After delivering a bomb to right center field, she touched them all and gave the Senators the spark they needed and left the score 4-1. The second inning drama wouldn't stop there after a walk by outfielder Perry, and a double down the third base line by Malia Tiffer, leaving the perfect setting for a sacrifice fly by Jimmy leaving the score 4-2.
Not allowing any time for a come back, McQueen managed to muster up another two runs in the top of the third, leaving the deficit for Carson to four. Another scoreless bottom of the third and top of the fourth, the score remained 6-2 until Sophomore Bailey Allen hit a booming, three RBI, bases clearing triple. With the score now 6-5 the Senators were well within striking range of their counter parts and with a scoreless top of the fifth, the door of opportunity swung open for Carson. At the bottom of the fifth, Malia Tiffer hit yet another double and picked up an RBI to send home Becka Breuer and tie the ball game up at 6-6.
McQueen would have no desire for any late inning fanatics and rallied together four runs in the top of the sixth including a two-run homer leaving the score 10-6 to enter the last inning. After a relatively unproductive bottom of the sixth for Carson, McQueen established that they wanted to make the Carson deficit even larger coming up with another two runs to finish off the top of the seventh. With no response from the Senators, the score would finally end with McQueen 12, Carson 6.
