Black History Celebration Feb. 27 to honor Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford
The Democratic Men's Committee of Carson City will host a Black History Celebration the evening of Wednesday, February 27 in the banquet room of La Santaneca pupuseria, 316 E Winnie Lane near San Marcos Grill in Carson City.
This event is purely educational and celebratory, not political. Jo Etta Brown will provide an overview of the Nevada's black history, including some little-known facts about notable African Americans in the Silver State's storied past.
That talk will complement presentation of the Men's Committee's Golden Bow Tie Award saluting Attorney General Aaron Ford's lifetime of achievement as a father, lawyer, distinguished lawmaker and Nevada's first-ever African American constitutional office holder.
Doors open at 4 p.m. Casual socializing and informal familiarization with Salvadorian cuisine between 4:00 and 5:00 pm. Award reception for Attorney General Ford followed by Nevada black history presentation between 5:00 and 7:00 pm. The $10 admission charge includes the Salvadorian buffet and cold drinks.
