Friends of the Nevada State Museum are pleased to announce the reprinting of a historic Nevada State Museum cookbook. This was possible thanks to the assistance of staffs from Nevada State Library and Archives in Carson City and the State Print Shop.

On Thursday, August 22, from 6:30 – 8:00 pm, Moxy Ruckus, featuring Monique Haviland, will perform a Big Hair Eighties Review concert.

On Saturday, August 24, 2024, Capitol City Gun Club in Carson City, NV will host a “Dove Season Tune-Up” Three Shot Sporting Clays Shoot with pump and semi-automatic shotgun classes. Registration begins at 9:00am with a $50 entry fee per shooter per class. Shooting begins at 10:00am and goes until 4:30pm. Bryce Chisholm is a blue collar, hometown boy whose dynamic work has the street savvy and appeal of outsider art. Will is bringing a crate of vinyl records and guests are encouraged to bring records of their own that they would like to share for a spin on the provided turntables. Take in the current art exhibition while getting exposed to new music, making new friends, sipping libations, and enjoying eats from a Food Truck.

In this class you’ll learn about problem-solving through art, as well as how to draw with instructor Kaleb Wyckoff. Whether you can sketch a stick figure or a portrait, this class is for you! All skill levels are welcome. Every class is different and designed to strive for accessibility. Classes take place every other week and focus on standalone lessons, meaning you can join at any time without being behind.

The Kid’s Monster Lab is for any youngins ages six through thirteen interested in bringing their imagination to life: in this three-week, six-session class, participants will dream up creatures, critters, and monsters to create with their art, their colors, then finally clay and paint. Classes are led by instructor, Kaleb Wyckoff.

This Sunday, bring your acoustic instruments for a "sit-around-the-tavern" jam session. Just like singing & playing around a camp fire. We even have a camp fire and we will be sitting around playing. Anyone can play & sing or not, and can join in at anytime.

What we are doing: Volunteers of all ages and skill levels are invited to this fun, hands-on restoration event. By pitching in, you will help improve the ecosystem functions and wildlife habitats that surround Lake Tahoe.
