The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada and Court Appointed Special Advocate are having a community event dedicated to Pokemon Go and family fun. The event includes playing Pokemon Go, a scavenger hunt, a costume contest, raffle prizes, and so much more.

In an effort to raise much-needed funds for the kitties, Catmandu is having a benefit yard sale this Friday and Saturday, July 17 and 18. It will be held at Catmandu, 1829 Brown Street in Carson City. Hours of the sale are 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

This virtual conversation will feature a discussion about Sun Valley, Nevada, the history of this region, the stereotypes associated with trailer park culture, and the creativity that is born out of this place.

Carson City Sheriff's Office Cadets will be hosting a fundraiser car wash Saturday, July 18 at the North Carson Home Depot. Come show your support of the cadets and get you car washed while you shop.

Monday's Democratic tele-luncheon will feature a town hall-style presentation by Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

This Saturday, July 11, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. State Treasurer, Zach Conine, will present a live update on the state of the Nevada economy to Lyon County Democrats via Zoom. Mr. Conine will discuss the impact of the Coronavirus on the Nevada economy and the outlook for recovery in the coming months. A question and answer session will follow his presentation. 

We are traveling the world this year! During the 5-day art camp students ages 5-10 will “visit” Asia, South America, Europe, Africa, and Australia to experience the art, culture, and music of these continents. Each day of the week will focus on the art and traditions of each of the continents. Each camper will have their “passport” stamped daily and will design a “travel bag” for all of their camp art projects.

CARSON CITY — Sierra Lutheran High School will host a special open house on Tuesday, July 14, from 6 to 7 p.m. for prospective families interested in learning more about the school and its educational program for the 2020-21 academic year.

Registration is open for a free, online series of classes on Diabetes Self Management that begins July 23, 2020.

What: This 6 week self-management class was developed at Stanford University and offers anyone living with diabetes – or anyone living with or caring for someone with diabetes – the tools and skills to successfully manage their condition.

Coin Press No. 1, which stamped coins at the Carson City Mint from 1870 to 1893, will operate from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 4 at the Nevada State Museum in Carson City. This will be the first time the museum has operated Coin Press No. 1 since it closed temporarily in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
